It’s been said that a community is only as good as its people. The members of the non-profit Emerging Leaders group has made it their imperative to ensure the best and brightest in the city remain in the area and contribute to the betterment of London.

“We (want to) help to support people in London to do the things they want to do,” said Kevin Van Lierop, community energizer for Emerging Leaders. “(We can) help them unleash their talents — they’ll be better connected to the city and have more reasons to stay and invest in London.”

Emerging Leaders will be holding their first membership drive on Thursday to celebrate their one-year anniversary as a non-profit enterprise and also to hold their annual general meeting.

“We’ll be nominating our board for the next couple years and reporting on what we’ve been up to over the past year,” Van Lierop said. “We want to celebrate (the membership drive) and talk about what we’re going to be doing in the coming year to offer our members.”

Visit http://www.emergingleaders.ca for more details about their programs and information about becoming a member. The cost to join is $40 plus fees (regular member), or $20 plus fees for students.
