FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LONDON, ON—DECEMBER 17, 2010—Five local organizations today announced an ambitious plan to help restore two downtown properties, one the historic Century Theatre, and to co-locate their nonprofit organizations in the new SYNergy Centre to increase efficiency, collaboration and innovation across sectors, cultures and demographics.
192 and 194 Dundas, owned by Century Mews Inc., a partnership of Magnus Asset Management and well-known London contractors Phil and Bob Macdonald, will be home to Downtown London, Emerging Leaders, London Arts Council, London Heritage Council, and Pillar Nonprofit Network, and be a community hub for entrepreneurs, artists, social innovators, cultural groups, festivals and others.
“The vision of the SYNergy Centre is to be an innovative and inclusive meeting space and gathering place for a diversity of Londoners,” said Janette MacDonald, General Manager of Downtown London, the agency focusing on the revitalization of the core. “We are living this vision by bringing five innovative organizations together to breathe new life into two decaying downtown spaces, one of which has incredible historic meaning to London. The SYN Centre can be a catalyst in shaping London’s downtown future.”
The collective, in partnership with the property owners, are working to raise $5M for the project, which has a target completion date of late 2012.

About the Project
The SYNergy Centre (SYN) will be a dynamic and inclusive shared space for downtown partners, ethno-cultural groups, entrepreneurs, arts and heritage workers, cultural creatives and social innovators, and help to shape a new vision for cross-sectoral collaboration and smart, sustainable downtown models. This unique destination will be the permanent home of a core group of complimentary tenant-partners – Downtown London, Emerging Leaders, London Arts Council, London Heritage Council and Pillar Nonprofit Network – and provide incubator and “hot desk” space for emerging talent from the local entrepreneurial, ethno-cultural, arts and heritage, and nonprofit communities.
