Ivey in the community:  pro-bono consulting and community impact project

July 08, 2008

Ivey Connects

Ivey Connects at the Richard Ivey School of Business has set up pro-bono consulting projects for not-for-profit organizations (NPO) in our community for the past four years. This project pairs an NPO with a group of undergraduate business students guided by a consultant at Accenture Consulting (www.accenture.com) to recommend solutions for their business issues or ways in which you can implement a new business project.

Past projects have included innovative sustainability plans, recommended fundraising strategies and developed tactical marketing plans.  The projects run for 6 weeks, as students research and synthesize their findings into a presentation or document for NPO partners. The Community Consulting Project has proven to be a great success in the past for the partner organizations, Accenture advisors and the students.

Ivey is currently seeking not-for-profit organizations in the London area to participate in 2008 Community Consulting Projects.

United Way - Ivey Connects Community Impact Challenge

United Way of London & Middlesex and the Richard Ivey School of Business are pleased to invite local organizations to consider an application to the United Way - Ivey Connects Community Impact Challenge, an opportunity to benefit from the time, talent and expertise of a team of first-year Ivey HBA students. Beginning in September, each section of students in the first-year HBA program will “adopt” a non-profit organization and provide eight months of service to it by means of fundraising, volunteering and pro-bono consulting. There are five sections of 75 students each. Five agency partnerships are available beginning September, 2008.

Applications are due no later than August 1, 2008. Applications and more information about this exciting initiative can be found on-line at http://www.uwlondon.on.ca/site .
